Ilar Telefuel was an abstract conductor who wrote symphonies. He didn't conduct a typical orchestra; instead he would somehow conduct the stars, coaxing audible signals out of them with his hand motions. These astral symphonies are only audible when looking at the stars.

The volume was extremely subtle—even on the brightest nights—unless you happened to be outside the magnetosphere of the planet (in which case the symphonies were incredibly loud). Legend has it that aliens who were traveling in the vicinity of Akabius were so bothered by this cacophony that they came to the surface of the planet, captured Ilar, and put him inside a steel chamber called a Chainer so that he would stop making his music.
